African Savanna (bush) elephants are the largest land animals in the world and the largest of the three species of elephants. They grow up to 24 feet long, 13 feet high, and weighing up to 11 tons. Calves are born weighing almost 265 pounds. 

Have you ever heard the saying, "An elephant never forgets"? Well, it's true. The part of their brain associated with memory is larger and denser than a human. So, their memory is better than ours!

African elephants are under threat. Their population has declined by about 90% over the last century due to the 'Ivory Trade'.
